Kings Place - Our new sustainable venue.

 

Why Kings’ Place is a sustainable venue:

  • Have a ISO 14001 and BREEAM accreditation
  • The wavy glass front façade contributes to the buildings good environmental performance
  • The oak wood in the main auditorium is made from sustainable wood sourced from a single tree that was naturally felled.  Saplings were planted to replace the tree
  • Atrium design allows for ample daylight to flow into the public spaces and reduces the need for additional lighting
  • Sustainable materials were used in the construction of the venue
  • An areas of Green Roof enhances the ecology of the scheme and encourages bird and invertebrate species
  • All procurement is done ethically and sustainable
  • Where possible they only use local producers rather than importing goods
  • By owning their own farm in Northumberland, able to reduce their carbon footprint and operate a gate to plate ethos
  • All lights bulbs are currently being replaced with LEDs
  • Replaced all plastic cutlery with corn-starch cutlery.  These are 100% natural and biodegradable
  • They now use PLA straws instead of plastic straws
  • Bamboo plates have been introduced to replace plastic tableware.  They are 100% biodegradable and can be disposed of with food waste
  • Their in house café sells Ecoffee cups and offer a free coffee when you purchase and additionally offer a 20/25p discount on your next purchase to all customers who return with their cup
